Silk Tale

At long last, the end of the beginning, may I introduce you to my new site, Silk Tale.
Silk Tale
It’s something that’s been forming as an idea since about last year and it’s awesome to finally be able to unveil it. There’s not much of the way of content there yet, apart from an initial explanation of what the site will be about, but all of that will change soon enough…

A big thanks to Kaos for being a great person to work with and for helping me visualize my ideas and to CommSie who’s been the quiet help in the background. A lot of new ideas have formed while on vacation, it’s going to be an interesting ride making it all happen.

Back from Crete

Take away
Just a quick entry to say hi, we’re back.
More later…

Holiday time

The joys of packing… starting tomorrow I’ll be offline for about 12 days as we head off to Greece to enjoy a bit of sun, sea, beach and various other enjoyable things. Take care, have fun, and don’t let us come back to a graveyard forum. ;)

Random bits

A DS Lite recharging cradle with a light. Nice. If I had a DS Lite.

Free software! Until August 7th you can get a free key for Curio Basic, “the ultimate brainstorming and project management application”. No idea if it’s any good but it sounds like something I could use.

Apple makes yet another bad move by announcing they’re going to kill off their discussion forums. Such a waste. This reminds me of the old notes.net site which was the dev & admin hangout for Lotus Notes/Domino guys. You could find anything there and it was an invaluable knowledge resource. IBM fucked that up in pretty much the same way Apple is doing now. One of the negative points of ye internet me thinks, but at least in the case of notes.net you could make a copy of the entire database for future reference.

And for the Mac haters, or people with a sense of humor; spoofs of the Mac ads.

Spam is annoying, I wish I could figure out an easy way to install SpamAssassin on the Mini, but I’m always a little intimidated when it comes to Perl apps. For now I’m giving Thunderbird’s junk handler a try. Apple’s Mail.app junk handler has let me down thusfar.

Work in progress... not home!
Trying to get all/most of the new code working before I start on the eyecandy.
