Feed Readers
Wow, 19 people are subscribed to my RSS feed. I’m flattered. *sniffs* Seriously.
And how do I know this? Well, thanks to the lovely Feed Statistics plugin. The great thing about this is that it’s the first plugin I know of that gives you insight to how many people dig your feeds without having to sign up to Feed Burner.

250, 6 & 0

This is my 250th blog entry.
This website has now been online for 6 years.
0 is the amount of cigarettes I’ve smoked today.

This ‘should’ have been a huge entry but I think I’ll keep it zen.

Put your hands up for Detroit

Just booked my ticket to fly out to Indiana next week, via Detroit. So now I’m stuck with this song in my head.

The stream

My pet project, finally completed, one less to do.
What is it? Well, social networking sites are fun, but they have one very big flaw in my opinion. You have 0 control over the content. Try finding something you dug on Digg.com, try accessing your bookmarks when Del.icio.us is down, and you’ll see what I mean. My solution: WordPress.

Iron & Wine

Iron & Wine - Our endless numbered days.
Remember real music? Acoustic music? Music before every monkey started thinking that screaming into a mic and scraping a hand across a guitar makes him a musician? Before sound engineers started thinking that producing an album meant turning up the bass instead of capturing the whole sound spectrum as faithfully as possible?
Well, that kind of music is still being made, and a most excellent example of it is Iron & Wine’s Our Endless Numbered Days. Simply beautiful. Check it out here and here.

Do you Twitter?

Twitter
I’m now twittering, I’m a twitterer. Click on the image to see my twitter.

twit·ter /ˈtwɪtər/ [twit-er]
–verb (used without object)
1. to utter a succession of small, tremulous sounds, as a bird.
2. to talk lightly and rapidly, esp. of trivial matters; chatter.
3. to titter; giggle.
4. to tremble with excitement or the like; be in a flutter.

Eh, ok… I’m not sure if any of that applies to me but it’s good for shits and giggles. Quick summary; register and connect with your friends and post small blurbs about what you’re doing or what you’re thinking about. Your friends can see your (and everyone else of their friends) replies and react where appropriately, and whee, we have another social network. So it’s like a mass internet messenger. You can even use your phone or instant messenger to post, but thusfar the only supported im seems to be Gchat, although they do also offer a few stand alone programs for your braindumps.
What I also like about it is that it’s fully RSS enabled, so I could easily grab a feed and have it updated in one of the sidebars here on the site or forum.

Faderhead – FH2

Faderhead - FH2
Faderhead’s second album. Pretty diverse, less aggressive than the first (which may or may not be considered a pity) and with interesting lyrics. I wouldn’t know how to classify this music, and I think that’s a good thing, just click on the picture to have a listen for yourself as the whole album is available in a low sample rate stream.

Social bookmarks

Fashionably late as always I took a peek at my todo list from hell and decided to turn my attention to social bookmarks. Hip and trendy last year, common and in broad use today. I’ve been meaning to add a plugin for a while but I was never sure if people would really use it. So what is social bookmarking? You know how you bookmark a site in Firefox, or add a favourite in Internet Explorer? Well, same thing, only instead of adding it to your browser you add it to a site. Most notable of these is del.icio.us, the grandaddy of social bookmarking sites. The advantage of this is that you can access your bookmarks no matter where you are. It’s also fun because you get to see who else has bookmarked the same things as you, and check out their other bookmarks as they might be of interest to you.
