Application launcher: Launchy

Launchy
Awesome little program. Install it, launch it, and it indexes your files and programs. So the next time you either want to start a program or for example want to listen to a song you press alt+space and launchy pops up, type a few letters of either the application or the song and hit enter. It’s a real time saver. I was already hooked on Quicksilver on the Mac, this is the equivalent of it for Windows. It comes with a load of skins to give it a different look. It also has a plugin system for adding functions, things like a calculator are already built in, or an url launcher.
Give it a try, I love it.

Me goes to the US, part 2

Fort Wayne ‘International’ Airport
Part 1 is here in case you missed it. Standard disclaimer; these are just a list of things that made me raise an eyebrow during my first visit to the US. I only went to Indiana and have yet to see the rest of the country, so I’m guessing some things vary from state to state. I hope so anyway…

Here’s a small list of things we found noteworthy:

Blast from the past; tv series

The Tripods
If you’re over 30 chances are you know at least a handful of these series, you might even still be able to whistle along with a few of the intros. I’ve left out some of the more obvious, these are more the obscure ones that might make you go ‘ohhhh yeah, I forgotten I watched that as a kid’.

BlogDay 2007

BlogDay 2007

BlogDay was created with the belief that bloggers should have one day dedicated to getting to know other bloggers from other countries and areas of interest. On that day Bloggers will recommend other blogs to their blog visitors.

It’s coming up on August 31st, so click on the banner and check it out.
I like the concept of everyone recommending 5 blogs from a different culture and point of view on that day.

The weather

How’s the weather?
At work we have to go outside for a smoke, and inevitably people will be walking by all the time. Now for me, a hi will suffice. “Bah, it’s raining, I hate the rain”. Yes thank you Captain Obvious, I can see that quite clearly, and feel it by the water splashing everywhere on me. I know it’s meant well, but it still annoys me at times. Especially when it happens too many times in any one day. But it’s small talk, and a way for people to reach out and connect I suppose.

Me goes to the US, part 1

Angola in the distance
I’ll have to draw this out into several entries seeing as it’s a bit much and I have several angles.
On the one hand this trip was purely so Katelynd and I could spend some time together, but on the other hand this was my first time in the US, and from a European point of view that was quite a riot. More piccies in the gallery btw.
