Sometimes they come back

Sometimes they come back
Rottenkid, me, Zandweter & Captain Headset. Or in other words my current intern, me, my colleague and my first intern a few years ago. They have a habit of coming back every now and again.

MacBook Mini?

Rumours have it that new MacBooks are in the works.
Two things that catch my interest;
- Aluminium case. This I like because the MacBook’s plastic sucks, scratches, turns an icky colour and doesn’t protect the inner components enough.
- ‘Extremely aggresively’ priced. Now we’re talking Apple here, so that could sit cost you a few ribs, but one can hope.
Maybe these’ll come along with the launch of Leopard? Which is rumoured to have reached Release Candidate stage by the way, and the 800Mhz G4 has been dropped as the minimum spec.

CSI Virtuoso EX3 TL, take that for a title

CSI Miami
Never watched this show before, and I doubt I will again. Lieutenant Horatio Caine, played by David Caruso goes about solving crimes. The problem is that poor David only ever had money for 1 acting lesson, and in that lesson he was taught that looking at the ground and then looking up dramatically and saying a one liner makes him look extremely cool. David just took it a bit too literally or is trying a bit too hard to look cool and so he looks up dramatically about 60 times per episode. It’s simply too ridiculous to watch. Next!

Creative virtuoso.
A good example of what I like about blogs. Don’t know how Devin ended up on my site but I followed his link and found a blog with computer stuff and personal stuff mixed together, some of the personal entries specifically hit close to home and it’s nice to be able to relate.

Street Fighter
Playing EX3 again makes me want a new EX game, a new Zero game (or Alpha as it’s called outside of Japan) and Street Fighter 4. And please make 4 better than 3 which so sucked in my opinion. And where’s that new movie they were going to make?

Lamp for fish tank
Just a personal reminder to pick up a new TL lamp for in my fish tank seeing as I had to switch the current one off over the weekend, it started flashing like crazy which I don’t think would have been good for my fishies mental wellbeing.

It’s Monday

and I need coffee.

BuddyPress

The one problem with WordPress MU is that even though it’s billed as the stuff that drives wordpress.com that’s a bit of a stretch. Think more of it as the engine. But an engine alone doesn’t make a car. And so the MU users are left to scratch their chin and come up with their own solutions. Which is cool for those who are pros and/or run MU for commercial sites, but it has left us hobbyists a bit in the dark.
Enter BuddyPress.

BuddyPress will completely transform a vanilla installation of WordPress MU into a fully functional social network platform.

Yippee-kah-yeah motherfuckers. Very awesome news. Check his site for how things came to be, a big yay for Andy.

Iron Man – the movie

Iron Man
So far so good, it looks absolutely awesome. I LOVE the suit, but Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) comes across as a bit too cocky compared to the Tony of later years, so it’ll be interesting to see how they ‘adapted’ the comic book story line.
Even cooler, I started singing Black Sabbath’s Iron Man and ten seconds later Sabbath kicks in in the actual trailer. Bonus points for using that track.

Programmer’s Notepad

Programmer’s Notepad
Notepad doesn’t cut it anymore to work on your html or php but a full fledged IDE is a bit overkill? You might want to take a look at Programmer’s Notepad, a free, open source, text editor with special features for coders.

It’s a good weekend

following a good week. Among other things I’m getting my contract, and my boss is supportive of some of my actions that are on the agenda for the next months.
We also received some other good news, but I’ll get back on that later.
For now, enjoy the weekend everyone. We are.

Work in progress... not home!
Trying to get all/most of the new code working before I start on the eyecandy.
