Rejoice in this utterly useless post celebrating the 12th day of the 12th month in the year 2012.

Sign of the times #2

As mentioned in the previous post second hand stores are spreading more and more to the point that now even franchises are sprouting left and right specialized in selling second hand products.
The latest 2 in Heerlen are 4xG and Used Products.
Poverty, now featured on the main shopping streets. Yeah we’re doing good. Maybe for the next year they’ll replace some of the restaurants with soup kitchens.

Tim Cook interview with Businessweek

Businessweek has a good interview with Tim Cook, who picked the right time to come out and say a few things. In a time when Apple’s stock is going up and down like a roller coaster because investors and so called analysts are too dumb to recognize a long term plan if it bit them in the arse, we’re left with journalists that don’t understand the tech they’re writing about and jump on every silly rumor that comes along.
So this interview is a breath of fresh air.
There’s some real nuggets in there as well, my favourite has to be this:

We don’t subscribe to the vision that the OS for iPhones and iPads should be the same as Mac. Customers want iOS and Mac OS X to work together seamlessly, not to be the same, but to work together seamlessly.

Maybe now all the tech ‘journalists’ can stfu with their end of the Mac predictions.
And while they’re at it they can stop with the TV box nonsense. They don’t get it.

Upcoming: Oblivion

Not a lot of details on this one yet but the poster peaked my interest.
It’s based on a graphic novel by Kosinski and directed and co-produced by the same Kosinski, who also directed Tron: Legacy, so I’m VERY much looking forward to this. Release date is April 12, 2013.

Samsung TV Plex app problems?

If you’re using the Plex app on your Samsung tv it may have updated in the past week or so. And if, like mine, this resulted in movies starting to glitch, stutter and even ultimately crash your tv (gotta love progress, crashing and resetting tv’s) give this a try:
Go to preferences, then select player, you’ll see 3 buffer settings. Set all 3 to 1MB and try watching something again. That did the trick for me.

And again…

To Azeroth!

Work in progress... not home!
Trying to get all/most of the new code working before I start on the eyecandy.
