Apple 2007
That’s the picture that has been on the frontpage of Apple.com this year as we waited for today’s big annual speech of Steve Jobs.
And with bold words like that I was expecting something awesome.
What a let down.
A phone & a media portal.
To be more specific; a US only phone and an iTunes frontend (it doesn’t have any added functionality and lacks a tuner) you can hook up to your tv which was already announced last year so technically it doesn’t even count.
Whoop-dee-fucking-doo-da.
No Leopard, no Xserve, no .Mac overhaul, no new plan for the enterprise, nothing.
This round goes to the other side. If, according to the picture up here, that really was the big announcement for this year I know I’ll be playing the rest of the year with new Microsoft and Linux software instead.
Thoughts of Imbalanced Mind
I guess, US is a big user base and such that does the most micro-transactions. Doesn’t the phone make you think of an NGage+PSP+DS-ness or something? Price is to steep.
phone makes me think of a 400 dollar brick. 5 hrs of battery life on a cell phone?
the end of 2007 will have the iPhone in Europe and 2008 the Asians will have it.
16 hours of battery life if you use it for just phone and music. 5 hours for heavy use of all the features.
Leapord is still expected sometime this summer I believe.
Maybe there is such a demand for phone/music/gaming. Lots of “casual people” wants to pay for old stuff or get things more “legally”. Then again casual people’s budgets for a phone + extra stuff is pretty low…
you’d be surprised how much people will pay for phones.
The coolest part, to me, is that there could potentially be a multitude of really cool apps for the phone as it’s supposedly just like OSX. that’s the big selling point for me (not that i’d be one of the people developing something for it, i’m the consumer!)
Yes, but the surprising big(gest) group will pay around 150-300 $
For the elite, tech savvy and the rich groups are a bit smaller than that.
Oh well, either ways they could make enough, I guess. Although I did thought their goal would be reaching more consumers and not just the “elite” they got.
Meh, this is why they changed Apple Computer Inc. to Apple Inc.
A MacWorld keynote which lacked the Mac part.
And again, yes the product itself may be nice, but it’s nothing I’m interested in. I want to know what OS is going to run my servers and desktops, not what kind of gizmo people will be drooling about.
sadly, it seems that’s the direction that Apple is interested in going down. oh well.
