Girl Gamer mag thinks it’s still the 1950s

DS Fanboy: Attention female readers of DS Fanboy! You know how you’re ALWAYS thinking about nothing else but pink things, cooking, and raising cute ickle babies?

Ugh D=
So all pink, cooking games and even a baby game o_O
If women/girls are all only about pink stuff, cooking and baby all the time, then I don’t want to encounter them D=
Also some marketing schemes are bad o__o

They are completely in touch with all the female gamers D=
See many other links (to other articles and etc.) and schtuff in that article/blog.

  1. DS not only reaches out to the adult gaming world but to the newest generation. For us, Mario was our starting point because it was good fun and it really was the only starting point. Now, they have interesting games for little girls and boys alike. For girls, they have Bratz dolls games to puppy games and for boys they have Transformers to Bob the Builder. Atleast I’m certain of that. The point is, marketing is doing it’s best to stretch into the newest generation of gamers, even if it means going into a girly area of Barbies, pink stuff and other stuff that can make them more like mummy. It’s just a fact of life, almost all girls are fascinated with everything pink and girly and sweet. It’s what makes them so cute, innocent and adorable.

But you know women/girls aren’t only about pink stuff, cooking and babies, Comms. ;) So you don’t have to worry. In today’s society, girls aren’t only interested in the stuff they were in the 50′s. Their horizons have broadened thanks to consumerism and women’s rights. Girls can now enjoy a game of racing and they won’t be looked at oddly.

I don’t see the big deal of the person writing the article. It wouldn’t bother anyone if there was a rack entitled ‘Games 4 Boys’.

  2. I have faith in the almighty Ninny, if girls didn’t want a pink DS there wouldn’t be a pink DS.
So likewise I’m sure there’s also a market for the girly games. While at the same time most women also enjoy a good fighter or slasher or shooter.
Or at least the cool ones do. :)

  3. Cooking momma is not only for girls (^O_O)> Bratz are too skinny.
Rights aren’t that “equal” and everywhere but that’s a different prob (~oo)~
It’s a big deal, cause one mostly just see guys and boys in the stores or those departments. So no need for label =D
Imagine how parents go shopping D=
Transformers and Bob the builder, aren’t those for even younger kids mostly? =D
