I GOT IT!

I got the studio job! Can’t believe it, i actually got it! My luck must definitely be turning around!

Heh, and i just started a new bar job too… the studio job starts in January, so i’ll have to give notice at the bar a little before xmas… i don’t wanna piss em off just yet
Dunno how i’ll tell my mates at college… ha, they won’t believe me to start with i’m sure! Chris at college was interested in working there too, but didn’t know how to apply… i found out easily and didn’t tell him, so i feel a bit mean… but its a competative industry, you have to look out for number 1 and grant no favours or you won’t get ahead… i just hope he isn’t bitter towards me because of it.

My God, this is really going to rocket my career… after uni it’ll look outstanding on a CV that i worked at a professional studio while still at college and after only 1 year in education!

Got an interview for that studio job i was after! Tuesday at 2pm, wish me luck! I’m gonna put together a demo CD just to show them i’m able to record mix and master no problem… dunno if i’ll get the job, i mean if other people have degrees then i can’t compete with that, but i’m happy just to have a shot at the job to be honest… my first professional interview for the industry!

Oh and i just got an email from my mate who works in web design. Someone he works with is after somebody that can digitally remaster something, and is willing to pay £10 per hour. I just sent him an email back asking what it is he specifically wants done… digital remastering means taking the seperate tracks and literally redoing the mastering process, but the guy might have gotten his words mixed up or something… people that don’t do music technology generally do that

Just what i’m listening to right now The old stuff can be surprisingly good

Doing work at the moment… normally i don’t mind, and quite enjoy it, but this kind of thing agitates me. I have to do a presentation pretty much outlining the basics of what i have learnt about my sound card thus far. But its pointless… we don’t get any marks for it or anything, and it’d be far more useful for them just to review us individually and look at what work we have so far! Thats what they did last year.
Richard is just being lazy this year… he even wants us to grade our own work! If we don’t give ourselves the correct grade and identify what specific segment of our work warrants this grade, then we simply don’t get the grade.

After i’m done with this i have to download and listen to some indian music… hehe, this should be fun! I have to analyze the genre and try and explain exactly how they are putting songs together and creating harmonies and such… its so dramatically different from western music that its hard to comprehend.

Found out some awkward news today… the next college gig is on the 10th, and i have surgery on the 9th -_- I’ll still make sure to get there, this one is important - me and chris have to demonstrate we can set up and run a gig completely independantly, because next month we won’t have any help.
I’ll just have to explain that i won’t be carrying any heavy stuff about or straining myself too much, i don’t wanna rip the stitches.
