Global warming is an important issue in the world nowadays. Everybody is busy with it. Since that Al Gore woke everyone up with his interesting movie “An Inconvenient Truth”, the world needs to have filters for cars, special showerhead cups (which save lots of water), and we have to unplug every powercable from outlets.
As fascinating the movie is, and as fascinating his ideas are.. are we really able to save what we’ve already “demolished”?
7-7-7 (7th of July, 2007) was a magical date that had everything to do with this subject. There have been some concerts across the world. They started at Australia, Japan, China went to Europe and they’re still busy America and Brazil. 24 hours of (live) music. Really big artists and bands have been lining up to play some of their great songs. The Police, UB40, Lenny Kravitz, Metallica, Genesis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, Bon Jovi, Madonna and more. Of course it’s a nice and warm thought from all these bands to play at these times. Just to let everybody know this is a big deal.
But do we really have to spend all this money for 24 hours of music just to let the message be heard? Not to talk about all the energy we’re wasting with this. Oh well.. the message has been heard I guess, and still will be heard by this. And now that we’re at it, we can at least try something. It’s not that I’m really into the global warming business and stuff. But still things like these sound important. I’ll try to leave power cables out of outlets from stuff I’m not using and switch things off from standby modes. At least when I think of that at the moment. I’ll hold that thought for 2 days, and forget it along the way, but still.. I’m such a good person.
So that concludes my story I guess. I still want some other opinions though.
Are you busy with the global warming? What are you doing (or planning to do) to “save the world”? Do you worry about global warming? Or other things?

I guess that’s good initiative to turn my computer off at night, huh? ^^;
Honestly, I’ve never thought about global warming that much..I’m not sure why. But it really is something I should be more aware/concerned about. It’s a depressing to think that the Earth is going to die thanks to us. Maybe not in our generation, but where does that put generations that follow?
I don’t know. I really don’t know that much about global warming. But it would be something to read into.
I do find it kind of ironic, though. I do wonder how much of the ozone layer all of that concert equipment is probably killing. xD
I generally turn lights off and unplug things I’m not using rather than standby, only fill the kettle with as much as I need and so on. I’d rather wrap up than turn the heating on. But that gets more difficult when you live with other people that can’t be bothered to do that.
It’s not that I’m ’saving the planet’, I just see it as wasteful otherwise.
In addition, while we’re getting fined for not recycling properly and the government is pushing people to have compost piles instead of collecting rubbish weekly, even for people that don’t actually have gardens, there’s all those business out there like shops that leave bright, bright lights on all night (here’s looking at you Marks and Spencers), or pubs that don’t recycle their bottles and so on, using so much more electric and gas than I am whether I turn my lights off or not.
I don’t see the point in the concerts. You can stick posters up or advertise on TV, or if you really wanted to, have the same singers etc on adverts on TV. But of course, that doesn’t actually advertise their music. How many people are actually going to hear that? And how many people is it going to change the minds of? What about the people that don’t like that music?
Do the stars actually save energy themselves? Surely a TV show showing how amazingly energy saving they are with their house makes more sense.
