I think that a holiday like that would be good to have. While Thanksgiving, here, has turned into a holiday of gluttony, at least that's pretty much the only thing someone could hold against it... all the others are so greedy and wasteful on terms of both corporation and consumer. People don't appreciate what they have.

And that just reminded me of another blog I have to write. x]

Oh, and try to tell them that Christmas = Saturnalia and they have a damn fit!
Thanks bunches, and I will for sure relay them. :]

Good luck and best wishes..

It's such a relief to get away from a psycho family.. you don't have to tell me.. You get out of there girl, and don't ever look back.

We don't have thanksgiving here, but we should have something like it really because I think it's a great reason for a celebration day. A truly justified and historic fact celebration.. not some mumbo jumbo pseudo religious shenanagins designed to fleece us of our cash cynically while spouting some fictitious crap about nothing whatsoever... oooo guess who doesn't like the christian festivals.. stealing all out important earth rites and burying them under that rubbish.. FYI for christians.. The romans collected their taxes with registration and payments in the weeks around the spring equinox (the reason our financial year still starts in april.. ever wondered?).. so if jesus had been born.. it would have been around easter.. They might even have nailed him up on his birthday... irony or what.. the romans liked a bit of that.

I got totally off topic.. enjoy turkey day.. hugs to Phix.

always

Yeah.. everyone I know who is around my age spams me with, "ZOMG AREN'T YOU DISTURBED THAT HE'S A GUY!!11?!" No; again, it's his job and he is a very courteous person who, as far as I can tell, does a good job of ensuring that his patients feel safe. Female nurses are always on hand during any examinations, so he isn't at risk.

As far as the dentist.. They require, fortunately, [as do I in circumstances of being put out what with all the sketchy dentists] that someone else be present for the procedure; since my dad had to drive me, he was going to stand in. x]

Seems there are a lot of doctors with arrogance. Before I was hospitalized with Crohn's, my family doctor - who was rumoured to have been partly blind - insisted that my continuous throwing up of bile, bloody stools and extreme weight loss was due to the flu. He gave me some antibiotics that only made me worse. I switched to a gastro specialist and everything was peachy. Both of my gynecologists were super and I was very thankful for that. Especially my last one.

To be honest, I'm scared of the gynecologists here in the Netherlands. >.> One in particular anyway that put a bad taste in my mouth. I don't mind my gynecologist being male because well.. it's their job and once you've seen one, you've seen them all. But this guy scared the shit out of me! His aura was completely off and he was just a total creep. So I suppose next time I get pregnant, unless I show symptoms of preeclampsia like I did in my previous two, I will definitely be having a home birth. X can be my doctor. :P

I know with doctors, sometimes nailing the diagnosis can be tricky and they usually heavily weigh the diagnosis on the average consensus. But to not listen to other symptoms and say 'Come back a week later if things aren't better' is rather offensive and arrogant.

Btw, your dental damn, make sure this guy isn't a crook and pervert. I've seen way too many guys pretending to be a doctor on the telly (gotta love Dateline), putting girls under and then molesting them. With the state of his office (there are regulations on cleanliness) he could just be that.

In some cases I can bite the bullet and deal with it.. but I don't like dentists, I don't like having my mouth fucked with; let alone the jaw-breaking process of pulling teeth.

That's what I am probably going to end up doing, but I have to go see a physician and an allergist first for the hospital to see me under those circumstances. If I had the money to say, "Fuck you, insurance that sucks," I would just go for it... but yeah.

Mindshift is required over pain..

I think about something really important and while the pain is still there it just doesn't matter. I know that takes a state of mind shift, but believe.. it can and does work.

I have a reaction to the local as well.. It can send me into shock causing a blood sugar crash. Not good for a diabetic.

Last thing I had done I just concentrated on something else and let my rather rough dentist get on with it.. He was dubious until he started drilling.. Yeah.. it hurt like hell.. but so what.. That's how it feels.. like it's happening to somebody else.

You should go to a hospital and have them all out under general.. that solves all the pain and reaction problems... unlike one of mine which was pulled out with a pair of pliers in a dripping jungle by a Cuban "terrorist".. That's when I learned about mind over pain.

Well, I know and understand that a real diagnosis is left to a real doctor... but to blatantly ignore or disregard someone's personal suspicion is arrogant and rude.

I'd actually put in a formal complaint about that, both to that office and the people that pointed you to it (and perhaps to medical watchdogs too, if they do that over there) - he would have been knowingly endangering your life, and rather than wanting a test to prove you ARE allergic to it before he WON'T, he should have wanted one to prover you're not allergic to it before he would.

Doctors are always suspicious of people self-diagnosing themselves but something this serious needs to be 100% confirmed before they can proceed.

I suppose that's the good thing about the NHS - they're not profiting from you getting treated, so they'll not push you into something unsuitable. (On the other hand, they'll not provide you with something that costs too much if it IS suitable ¬_¬)

I agree; I don't like having to rely on tips. I wouldn't say it should be outlawed, but I don't think it should be so thoroughly encouraged because I think that staff SHOULD make a decent wage to begin with. But that's restaurants being cheap, and with the economy presently as is, there will be no legislation to change that.

The fields are entirely different, though. It would be one thing if waitstaff actually did make even at least minimum wage--which we obviously don't... min. wage here is $6.25/hr, which still isn't a living wage, but yeah.

Customer view... Tipping should be outlawed, and all staff should receive a reasonable wage from the work alone. Increase the prices by 10% and the staff pay by 10%.. problem solved.. and then you don't have to be polite to the obese scumbags with the unruly children....
I never tip.. ever.
My reasoning.. I don't get tips when I work. I charge by the job or by the hour, just like everybody else who doesn't work in the catering industry.
