matter of cause

eminence.jpg

Years ago I came up with the thought that if one day I finally became the person I always wanted to be, I probably wouldn’t recognize it, and to this day I still believe this.

Lately, I’ve had to think a lot about who I want to become because of upcoming applications for grad school.

I think I have settled on a goal and a passion. But I pray that I am not striving for a horizon I cannot reach.

Perhaps my thoughts are overglamourized. Especially because I just discovered the Eminence Orchestra of Australia and completely fell in love with their performance videos. More specifically, I fell in love with the videos of them performing and recording in small ensembles, and that is what I want to do. In a fit of exhilaration, I sent a query in their “Contact Us” section asking what they would advise for me in order to end up on that career path.

I feel like an idiot fangirl. I guess I am. Now if only I could guarantee that this sorta-reckless behavior would amount in success, be it dreams or financial or personal or all of the above.

Well whatever they tell you would loosely apply to all orchestral careers wouldn’t it? They probably get it a lot anyway and the research should help you.

Besides, if you aim high there’s a lot of good places under that aim you can settle but you’ve still got that chance. Aim low and you miss those places and that big orchestra, so as long as it’s not the ONLY thing you’re going for what’s the harm?

Last year I visited a place that I never thought I’d see again, but now I’m spending half a year there, and the biggest thing it’s taught me is that no matter how much you plan for the future, there will be things that you cannot anticipate. Just do what you love, and try your best to keep doing it, and you’ll be as successful as you can be, no matter how silly it might seem
    (good luck with your apps)

[...] here is the music of a quintet from [Eminence Symphony Orchestra] (previously mentioned [here]) and Final Fantasy miscellany.  Still thinking of finding the direct path to joining them.  [...]
