existential.
[why?]
The initial answer to this would be somewhere between “why not?” and “one can never have enough webspace”. At the same time, it is because two creatures/colleagues named X and Comms got very excited about their new endeavours into the blogging world and over the course of a few years (specifically the last few days before this thing officially published) eventually persuaded me to join in. The other, and less interesting side of this story is that I write the occasional anime.manga review for X and find myself a somewhat faithful – if not faithfully slacking – member of the site. So again, why not? Adventures are mostly fun and wonderful. Plus, I do enjoy having a place to practice my writing skills since I’m not writer by nature or profession, much less a good or competent one.
[pocket universe?]
(The following can all be summarised by ‘blah blah blah…’ and I, by all means, encourage you to do so.)
The phrase “pocket universe” was blurbed out by a friend of mine from high school. I can’t recall the exact events that lead him to say this phrase, but, if memory serves correctly (which it probably is not), the event took place during chemistry class in my second year of high school and the inspiration involved philosophy. Maybe cars too. I think cars are all their own little worlds. Road intersections are fascinating. Worlds are literally rolling by you. What fun!! ^_^ (Anyone else thinking “Katamari Damacy”? hehehe)
Anyways – getting back on track – the name stuck on me. The concept sounded scientific, romantic, and cute all rolled into one. At the same time, the words embodied what I have long believed in: we are all in our own strange worlds where the barriers are less physical than that of a car but not too far less concrete. No matter if you are “sharing” your life with someone, we are all still our own little universes of mind and brain. We’re a bunch of pocket universes.
And since everyone is living different lives, everyone is living different experiences. Every experience can be an adventure and everyone has a story of some sort to tell. And I sincerely believe that.
Of course, a pocket universe is an actual term, and the true definition can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pocket_universe.
[stereosonic?]
The word came into my head one day out of the blue, and as far as I knew, was a made up word. It sounded cute in my head so it stuck with me, but I do not think it really means anything either. However, a Google search will prove that my appreciation of the appeal of the word is not lonely.
