Exterminate!

We’ve had the exterminator round. Seemed businesslike, done schools and restaurants and stuff, and killed a large number of cockroaches with the powder/acid they put down.

And it’s not enough.

They’d infested my surge protector for gods sake.  And it’s all very well saying “if there’s no food or mess they won’t come” but I don’t keep food in my surge protector (or computer, or outside of any sealable box actually). Or in my curtains. Or under the rugs.

Apparently they can live off dead roaches and skin cells and stuff. *shudder*

And putting acid in the kitchen = less roaches in kitchen, more in other rooms. Yippee.

Our house isn’t even dirty - there’s the odd fork someone leaves in the sink, but it’s tidier than a mate of mines that actually stank the moment you walked in the door, crumbs and plates everywhere, and she had no roaches.

The place needs fumigating or something. And sealing while they’re at it - they’re blatantly living in the walls but they refuse to seal up the slightly rediculously dangerous unsealed power plug holes that they’re living in until next week because “they’ll just go elsewhere”. Well of course they bloody will, but they will with poison as well. There’s no way the flat next door (which constantly smells of curry O.o) can’t have them, or downstairs.

And I’m sick of taking the fucking bins out. I killed both hands on mondays putting all 3 flats bins out because *gasp* I DON’T want roaches, and that’s 2 weeks worth of wheely-bin fullness (because I was at my bf’s last monday) down several stairs when everything’s cold and wet, when I have life drawing first thing. -_-

Can I talk to the other flat? No, because they don’t speak English. Which is fair enough, but they won’t take their bins out and that means I can’t yell at them to.

And my landlady… is really friendly and everything, and the rent should save me £1000 compared to the average over the 10 months I’m here, but gods sake: “My mate says cockroaches don’t conduct electricity” bollocks.

The only computer shop in this place I can find is shut down at the moment, so any replacement parts other than a PSU I’m going to have to order, after the weekend. So I have…

No books

No TV

No DVDs (because I used my comp for them)

No PS2 (because I don’t have a scart to the cable that goes to the monitor yet and bollocks is Argos getting £10 for one)

No Music (why buy a radio when I can use my comp?)

Only my drawing stuff, which I can’t do in a bad mood, my text books (I’ve read one and a half already and it’s only been two days) and… hunting roaches or something.

Oh, and sleeping. I went to sleep at 5 yesterday once everything in town closed. That’s how utterly bored I am.

See Sony? This is why you shouldn’t make your PS3 all multi purpose. People will depend on it too much, and when it goes bang, we’ll be stuck.

On the plus side, uni is still good - half the staff are missing which means free lessons (and £2.30 trainfare wasted, bah, I could have bought lots of delicious tesco value food for that. Like 200g of chocolate for 47p =P )

And they actually listen to our rep. It’s amazing. Like, in our old college, we just had student reps to keep us thinking we were being listened to when really they weren’t doing anything. Here they’re like “Really, that teacher’s useless? We’ll give you an extra teacher that lesson! and there were problems with the timetable shift? ok, from now on we can only change things to earlier, not later” Which is like… so cool.

They’re ‘testing’ us to get rid of slackers… like giving us 120 frames over 2 days (and then not marking it), which kind of pisses me off, but at the same time, it’s good because for that we got put in a group with 2 guys that just walked off, and if that happens with group coursework then either our grade will go down, or they’ll pass because of our work. Or both.

And the lecturers seems friendly too. Like, they’re teachers (obviously) but they’ll like, have a laugh and stuff. And it’s formal, yet it’s not formal.

We’ve got one or two that are like, totally barmy, but they’re so passionate/enthusiastic about animation it’s just plain cool, and it’s kinda contagious =P

Food is… interesting. Like, I’m never cooking bolognase again for just myself. Ever. Not without a dishwasher. And tuna, tomato sweetcorn and onion don’t seem to go that well without something but I can’t figure out what. And tesco rice jus plain sucks - you can overcook it to mulch, and there’ll STILL be hard bits in it. And I’m sick of add-water pasta packs already. Only had one pot noodle so far though =P

And after I move out I’ll have so many sealable boxes I won’t know what to do with them =P (Providing of course, we’re not in a roach infested flat in the second year =P)

    Yeesh, some people D:
Unfortunate that you and D have to go through this.

Hope things will only get better and to proper standards soon, even thought most will be done by you two…
