Lets see.
Flat has roaches. Landlady has “an environmental officer” (which IÂ thought was someone from the council)Â to sort them out, hence the council would assumably already know.
They didn’t. The other landlords didn’t do anything (theirs are connected, so if they don’t do anything we won’t get rid of them), so I contacted the council myself. They came over, I said “She’s already tried to do things, but the other landlords haven’t” and they said “we’ll contact the other landlords”
I got an email this morning stating my one months notice, that apparently I’m lying about the roaches and not tidying up after myself (apparently one of my other housemates isn’t either, but he isn’t getting kicked. In fact, my other housemate has been bitching about him never cleaning up or buying stuff for the house while I have.) First reaction was the council bodged up and blamed her for it, when I said specifically “she has already attempted to remove them”
She’s turning my room into a storage room. Hold on.
The council woman also told me that new legislation means we need certain fire safety equiptment if there are more than 2 unrelated tenants renting rooms within a flat/house.
Which the council also would have written to her about. There are three unrelated people (including me…at the moment.) in my house. The fire alarm doesn’t even work. Nevermind having a fire safety blanket and so on.
So miss “I’m curious as to how many roaches are there?!” come at night and see for yourself, or I’ll happily collect them all in a box and show you, because there’s still a few around. Maybe if you’d sealed up the holes around the sockets like you promised to about 10 weeks ago they wouldn’t still be getting in here.
Well, I don’t have to leave until the 9th Jan and I’ll be home a few weeks before that for the hols anyway, so good riddance. Won’t find a place as cheap as that, they’re all £300 up but at least I saved about… £300 on rent so far in 4 months with that place. Maybe I’ll even get somewhere with internet or something. And I get my deposit back at least too.
Guess I ought to email her back, just dunno with what at the moment (have to be diplomatic, even though her tone’s like an angry primary teacher or something, I won’t stoop to bickering damnit even if she is in the wrong. But I don’t know whether to say something along the lines of “I’m leaving anyway” or “you can’t kick me out for that!” )… or I could cry to the council I’m getting kicked out over it if I really can’t find a place. Tomorrow I’ll go to the accomodation office (I’m still slightly in shock at the mo, even though I know that it’s not my fault and she’s actually trying to avoid the ‘too many people’ situation, and legally she shouldn’t be able to kick me out for complaining about cockroaches in the house) and maybe they haven’t got a waiting list for their accomodation anymore. Mmm, free wireless internet (which they didn’t tell us about until about the second month of term or I’d have gone on the waiting list)
It may make xmas hell - it’s gonna be travelling up and down again to look at places or commuting.
…At least it’s not as if I’m stuck looking in aldershot because I already got a job or something.

Fucking outrageous! That email is so fucking rude and unreal! Shes got some nerve thinking she can do that.
I’m gonna look into the legality of that, i’m very sure she can’t kick you out for complaining. I’ll speak to you tonight.

Let’s hope you’ll find something else in time because this just keeps getting more and more ridiculous. But yeah, stay diplomatic either way. You can always give her the finger after you’ve worked something out.
