I had another wierd dream. About the characters from the Pirates of the Carribean movie. I haven’t even been thinking about it that much or seen much about it, apart from hearing the game is too repetitive and pretty but eventually boring.
Anyway, the movie starts and it’s kinda like Will and Elizabeth and Jack close ups, and Will and Elizabeth keep making eye contact. Jack watches them both walk off like he knows what’s going on then goes back to his own business, which happens to be downstairs looking at a cabinet that contains a green jeweled box.
Elizabeth and Will round a corner and Will’s like “It’s quiet here, kinda” (It’s kinda like a filthy loo or shower room thing they’ve walked into). Pan across to show it’s more like a cloakroom and there’s a one armed pirate hanging from a bar going across the room. He can’t get down because his hair (He’s bald with like 1 patch of hair) is stuck. Other pirate tries to help him, and also gets hair stuck. So Will goes to help them and tells Elizabeth to stay behind but she doesn’t and follows him.
Suddenly, a mighty gust roars through the room, and the pirates stuck start ‘melting’ (in a kinda claymationy way) and become ghosts. But there’s also many other ghosts flying through the room and out. Will turns around to find Elizabeth is also ‘melting’ and rescues her - but not before she’s in a comatose grey-clay-with-ratstail-hair state. He’s going to need some help to get her back.
So he marches though the ship (ghosts are flying overhead), carrying Elizabeth, and to Jack Sparrow. He demands something from inside the cabinet and somehow barters/blackmails Jack with his set of keys. Jack opens the cabinet, and gives him a bright green watch.
“You might want to be careful with that” He says
“Why?” Will enquires.
“Because you’ll be able to shoot comets with it”
He also takes something else out of the cabinet, but not the green box, and leads will and most of the crew away and to a door. There he freezes, and starts thinking about how he picked the crew. Cue flashback. All the pirate wannabes are suspended on flat rocks standing on the edge of a cliff by chains. If someone leans back too far, they fall. Jack says something piratey, and about 2/3 lean forwards, are free of their chains, and 3/4 of those manage to run forwards before the rock falls on them and crushes them. Anyway, his first mate is there (the old guy) and Will has somehow merged into Guybrush Threepwood, who wants to be a pirate but hasn’t even trained with Smirk yet (the fencing teacher in Monkey Island 1). They all have to go off and find some treasure. If they come back with a Mah Jong (sp) tile, they don’t get any points, because that’s easy. They have to find something special. Like furs, which some girl finds (Too much Civilization 3 again). Guybrush doesn’t find anything (well he couldn’t, he becomes a pirate later, when he finds the treasure on Melee Island! ) but some people do, and they become his shipmates.
End of flashback, walks up some stairs towards this door singing “I dunno why, she/I swallowed a fly…” (Which is supposed to end “Perhaps she’ll die” ) “That’ll teach me to sing with my mouth open.” Jack then opens the door and it cuts to inside, which is black and white.
The first room, will walks through as a cat, and he’s following someone. The second room he goes through as a pig, the next a dog. (This is meant to be logical because it ‘follows the song’…. which actually goes spider, cat, dog, horse, cow, explode, or something similar. No pig. And there’s a member of the song in each room guarding it, and if he’s the same animal it’ll not bother him.) In the next room, he forgets what it’s going to be, and goes “Cow- er, no, horse!”. When he’s a cow, he walks through just fine. There’s a bull in the room, that lets him go just fine, but when he’s a horse the bull keeps charging at him. But he escapes anyway.
Lastly he’s in a room with this girl (the one that found the furs) and there’s white animal in the room, like a dog. This is going to play out like a wizard’s dual, and they have to beat the white dog. The girl turns into a white ermine (Like Lyra’s daemon does at times in His Dark Materials) which proves to be kinda useless. So Will turns into a Polar bear (seems the rule is to be white) but after hitting the dog the fighting pauses. (It’s against the rules to be big) so instead Will turns into an arctic fox and the dog can’t catch the fox biting at its legs etc.
Jack is watching from a staircase above, and yells “Stooop! The winner… is… (a board behind him cuts to the girl/ermine) for doing the most… da-” Suddenly the board changes to the fox. Will is the winner.
Then I wake up.
I also had a dream before that about trying to find a shower in some house-of-showers where me and Paul were trying to find a shower but my parents kept running around turning the hot water off and stuff.
But that first dream, I just woke up like “Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, Bravo, Bravo, Queen?” (Or is it Quebec they use for Q now?) I only played Monkey Island when Paulus was here (He doesn’t like it because it’s not a talkie *glare* =P) I haven’t even thought that much about the Pirates movie, and I have no idea where “I dunno why, she swallowed a fly, perhaps she’ll die!” or the wizard’s duelling came from.
I’m going back home soon, so I see where my parents come in in the other dream, trying to stop me or Paul getting a shower. (or me and Paul, maybe that’s the point. Mam’s always been the “don’t put your relationship above/with other things in your priorities”. I promised myself not to keep complaining of the feminist type stuff, but I still don’t get the “OMG he’s a MAN and he’s going to do this that the other to betray you after all the effort you put in so don’t bother” or “He’s your first, you’ll regret not having dated other people first! Your aunt is!” type thing (But my gran’s not, and was still with her first guy when he died thank you for your holey theory), considering she’s happily married. And with me going home, that gives them more control over that.)
