How difficult is it?

I need a good knife, a big strong black binliner, a shovel, and 900g of vegan chocolate.

The first three because the virgin technician to sort out our phone line didn’t actually turn up, and the last one because I can’t throw a chocolate fountain night and just leave a certain lactose-intollerant friend to sulk in the corner. Not that I grudge her for being allergic to everything, but I’m determined that she not be left out, and if I find she’s on a diet or some such nonsense that means I won’t need to go to all this trouble, I’ll be completely lost and no longer inspired to throw said chocolate fountain night.

Anyway, how difficult can vegan chocolate be anyway? There’s plenty of lactose intolerant people around, and plenty of vegans. A vegan equivilent of a milk chocolate bar.

A vegan equivilent of a plain milk chocolate bar. Without spices this and fruit and nut that and fairtrade whatever. If I want to go fairtrade, I’ll do it when I’m not a student and there’s not 2 people living off £40 a week. And I don’t care how delicious a blend of aromatic spices or healthy the fruit you’ve stuffed in it is, it’s no good to dip fruit in.

I’ll have to check tesco/sainsbury’s for … Green and Blacks? Which does some vegan stuff? Or maybe Waitrose. It’s so difficult finding odd foods in a place where not everyone’s a hippy/health nut/tourist like it is in Brighton =P

I wonder if Robin Jarvis’ books would be good to turn into film/series? I don’t know the fanbase for it, or if there’s any plans already for it.

    Plenty is always relative…
    And money is where the masses are at…

    And it’s hard to get things to taste equally or even better at times with an (artificial or substitutional/) equivalent.

    Personally, I would just make other kind of desserts or treats if I ever had a lactose intolerant friend/guest.

    Thing is, I have a chocolate fountain, and I’m itching to use it :P

    But that also presents a problem. She’s allergic to… lots. Cakes and biscuits have butter and therefore milk, or cream, or additive this, additive that and not neccessarily nut free-ness. Pretty much all she can have dessert-wise is fruit, sugar, icing sugar, and bourbons, which despite being ‘chocolate’ actually don’t contain any dairy. Apart from she’s sick of them, and so doesn’t like them. =P

    And she can’t have alcohol either. So no studenty booze ups.

    After experiments concerning Skittles, we have discovered additives = bouncing off walls.

    There were quite a number of veggies and vegans in Brighton. But again, Brighton consists of many hippys, students, and hippy students, and there’s dozens of health food and fair trade shops, if somewhat expensive. As well as vegetarian and vegan cafes (Unfortuneately the supermarket’s bean burgers are nothing compared to Brighton’s Red Veg. *shakefist* )

    And vegetarian shoe shops. Which I almost asked for a job in, before realising it may not be a good idea considering my leather coat and shoes >_>
