So, you used your bad arms as an excuse to not turn up for the second half of the semester and now you want me to help you.
And damnit, I can’t not help her.
I’m sick of it - I thought this kind of bullshit ended at sixth form (hell, I thought it ended before that but my film group proved it wrong)
If she attempts a “my arms don’t work, you do it” she will be getting kicked out, and depending on how annoying she has been beforehand, not via the stairs. Someone else did her essay for her (I’m stuck on whether to dob her in for that or not) which she got a B for, and I refused to help her for her first submission because I know damn well she could have turned up and found out how things were done, or even remember the first half of the semester when she was still well.
It’s not that there’s nothing wrong with her - but she’s milking it. If you’re animating and suddenly lose the use of your arms, take everyone’s advice and take a year out until it’s better then start the third. Struggle though if you like but don’t complain about it because you decided to.
There will be lots and lots of bitching on here, should she push her luck. I’m taking time out of my holidays and my coursework time to help her in the first place and she’d better not waste it or pull out with “I’m too weak, can you do this bit for me? … … and that bit… … and this other bit… … and the rest of it….”
But because it’s a resubmission, she can get a maximum of 40%.
I’m still a little stuck on whether I should be helping her - before her arms weakened, she did the exact minimum for everything, I kept inviting her to come in to the tutorials our tutor was giving and she kept pulling out (damnit he’s in a better position to give advise than I am! ), and I’m usually the sucker that can’t not help people. It’s more competition once we’re out, although she’s not in the same field of animation that I am. (She’s into anime - for which there is practically no industry over here and that will probably burn out in a decade or so because japanophiles (like her) are scaring people away from all anime, including the good stuff)
And on the other hand, if she fails and has to drop out, she loses the funding for this year (so she’d have to retake the second and fund herself for the third, and she’s not capable of doing that.) whereas she might be persuaded to take a year out between second and third years.
And becauses she’s asked me, I’m now partly responsible if she fails. And she can only get 40% now, so it’s not as if she’s going “You’re one of the people that got a first… I’M GONNA LEECH OFF YOU!”
I suppose it’s a bit late to be debating it, because she’s coming over today, but my mind is still undecided on whether I should or whether I’m being taken for a sucker.

Unfortunately these kinds of shit will persist at any level and age…
Leechers (in a worse sentiment/meaning), exploitive, lazy and or cunning peeps will always be there…
Just become a bitch/asshole.
