Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee
Every blog needs a drunk post. I haven’t got one yet (that I recall. Haaaa.) and I think it’s high time I had one, before I eventually, and I promise I will someday, delete all my tantrum and “I had a sammich today” blog post of years past.
What was I going to write? I can’t remember.
Oh yes, I have a new job. And it’s awesome. Well the job isn’t awesome, it’s not like epic or something that you go “when I grow up, I want to dispatch motorcycle components!” but the people are lovely, they really are. When we’re not insanely busy it’s really nice to get to chat as you work, as opposed to a tiddly store that’s trying to save money by having so few people working that, by the end of the day, can’t actually do their job because there’s not enough people to serve, and watch fitting room, and clean up after the asshats that leave clothes all over the floor, and catch shoplifters, etc etc.
I find it so much easier to get on well with people older than me, say at my current job, than people my own age at my old job? I guess I gel more with people who aren’t constantly clubbing and following the newest shit lyriced pop group or stupid useless fashions. And there’s a huge amount of variety of people’s hobbies and such, so even though we’re not all the cool cats or whathaveyou, people are just more interesting because they’re not all the same. (or acting the same to fit in, or because they’re getting called a geek for not fitting in, or whatever.)
Sims 3 is rubbish. Fancy not putting in an FPS limiter or Vsync. Thanks for attempting to melt my graphics card EA, but I don’t need to run the main menu at SEVERAL THOUSAND FRAMES PER SECOND. Sixty or Seventy will do fine, and not run my card at 99.9% constant load, thanks. (Having had a graphics card go kaput in the past I’m constantly running monitors, and with the exception of the menu of Civilization 4 for some bizarre reason, Sims has been the only game that does this.)
I kinda feel like my degree has done sod all. Like, we didn’t get taught that much, it was more “do this via trial and error, and we’ll mark you” rather than “so this is the way you do animation!”
And maybe I wasn’t as foreward as I should have been, maybe I should have made myself more… “mememememe?” “Lookit me! Lookit what I made! Hi tutor! Here’s some kiss ass, please HELP ME NOW!” but like… shouldn’t they be teaching the whole class, not just the people that are louder? I’m not a very loud person, I don’t like being the centre of attension, or I don’t like “stealing” the attention away from everyone else. I mean, it’s not like the couple of people that do get attention were paying more than everyone else (exception of foreign students).
And then once the hierarchy of loud students and quiet students has been established, it’s even more difficult to break out of, you know?
Ah yes, student loans. I know it’s nothing compared to say, a morgage, but £50 a month interest in 2008 when it was 4.8% was shocking, considering that all the propaganda was like “you’ll barely know you have a loan at all!”
Oh, also, never buy all the things they tell you to before you go. After spending ~£90 on books, ~£50 on portfolios (bigger than A3 is only really for fine art, yet they tell us to buy A1 and A2 anyway?! ) and so on and not using them once, I’m not best pleased.
Also, apparently we were supposed to get a free 1 year install of Softimage after graduation, but I guess that went kaput after Autodesk bought them out. Thanks guys.

Still need to check out the Sim’s three but it will make my laptop explode!
Drunk Blogs are always fun.
