Frustration

So I finally got Sims 2 working again on my laptop. I’ve just spent the last couple of days downloading some old custom content that I used to have… placed it in the “Downloads” folder and also installed the latest CEP file (which enables recolours I think) yet when I came to run Sims after this the downloaded Lots, Hair, Skin, Make-up, Clothes, Walls and Floors were present but none of the downloaded Furniture or Plants were.

Does anyone else already play the Sims 2 and have any ideas as to what I need to do to get everything working?

I’ve Enabled custom content on the game options and all the SimPacks are ‘installed’.

Ok… updated after a bit of chocolate nibbling and tea drinking ;) I got the custom things that were missing working and I worked out how!

In the “Downloads” folder I had a mix of .package files and .simpack files (which I had installed) and apparently once you have installed the SimPack files you’re supposed to take them out of the Downloads folder. So I cut and paste them into a backup folder, boot up Sims 2 and opened up the Buy mode and ta~da! Working :)

    I looked here for a step-by-step help guide: http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=192907

Hope you can get your things working too!

Yea, i was at that site too looking up stuff and downloads. I just decided to redownload CEP and reinstall just in case it was the installation itself. Stuffs seem to work now. For me i didn’t have any simpacks in there so i was like “what now? o.O;;”, but i gots it worked out now :D

    Yay, that’s great ^^

The only problem with mine now is that it runs really slowly and sometimes if you’re trying to do too much at once (for example, editing walls/floors or whatever) it dies! I don’t think 8000 odd downloads I have for it helps though :(

Going to post a screenshot soon of my Sim family (now with kitties!)

:D Kittens! Ou I wanna see! I gotta buy that Expansion as well! (reminds herself to do so!) I have it for the Sims. But :3 i must have it for the Sims 2. o.O So far i haven’t had that problem with my new compy and such. The only problem i seem to be having is finding High-tech Modern objects without the donation/paying thing. x_x; But! I keep searching! :D

    Happy Simming~ :3

Ooh! I love downloading stuffies :3 Not sure if they’re High-tech or not but these are the sites I’ve been downloading some nice furniture things from!

    http://www.mangosims2.free.fr
    http://www.xmsims.com
http://www.4eversimfantasy.net (just found this one yesterday!)

I also browse http://www.thesimsresource.com and, of course, the http://www.modthesims2.com site for interesting objects and recolours (the decorative cows and chickens rock!)
