Remember that very nice pink space invader painting I bought back in January to get hooked up in my new room? Yes, the one that got a lovely big hole in it during transit… well, I still haven’t had any kind of refund sorted out for it. The guy I bought it from is determined that he’s going to get Royal Mail to pay him some sort of compensation and then give me a refund from that. Well, that’s great and everything… but Royal Mail aren’t exactly known for their speed…
I actually got a letter today from a company called the Repair Service who Royal Mail hire to go and inspect things that people have put a claim in for being broken during transit. The letter was first sent to the guy who sent me the painting. Then a month later they eventually sent it to me (since I have the painting). On this letter it said I had to call them to arrange a time for an inspector to come through and, well, inspect the damage to the painting. It also said that I should have any internal or external packaging to hand for them to look at that too. Well, three months on and I don’t have the packaging any more since I threw it away during the move. So when I called, I told them this and… surprise, surprise! Because I don’t have the packaging any more, the Repair Service ‘can not’ come to assess the damage as they’re only supposed to if the packaging is there. So now they have to update the Royal Mail about this as Royal Mail will have to carry out a different inspection now.
Great. I wish this would just get sorted out because I can’t hang it up until then. I’m just amazed that they refuse to come and inspect the painting just because I threw out the packaging even though I still have about 20 photos of the damages to the packaging and the painting that I took when I received it and when the guy first put the claim in back in January!
