So I was doing the laundry the other day, and I spy a whole bevy of these laundry freshener things, like drier sheets and detergent right (like, 3 total) and I see these 2 which I think are drier sheets: one turns out to be this weird crystal stuff, so that turns me off…but the other, oh the other, were drier sheets.

It’s this odd little purple package, written completely in French, so I’m thinking is this Middle-Eastern or Canadian or something? There’s no way anybody would buy drier sheets in France, and why bring it over here? are there any French girls here? I don’t think so….hmm. I’m settling on French drier sheets for now, bought along the banks of the Seine from the sidewalk drier sheet peddlars, while Italian gondoliers pole along the river and sing.

Now, before I go any further, I guess I should take some time, explain why I’m mentioning drier sheets. They’re cool. They could probably enter my little category of cool things, which I’ll bring up some time, suffice it to say they currently consist of warm blankets and hot showers. Clean, warm, nice-smelling laundry definitely deserves to be up there, and drier sheets are integral to this. I don’t even know how to explain this, it’s one of those things that if you experience are utterly addictive. Doing laundry is a chore, no question, but the joy of taking an armful of warm laundry and just burying your head in it…heavenly.

So I open up my underwear drier, toss out the cheap Costco drier sheet, and subtly replace it with one of the purple ones (shneaky…like a thief) taking a quick whiff, and proceed to use the electronic system to turn on my driers (our campus is freakily wired: we can get the driers/washers to email us for chrissakes). Bu I start thinking afterward: that dryer sheet smelled an awful lot like a flowery girlish smell, lilac maybe?..and I started pondering.

Do they make drier sheets for girls and generic gender sheets, y’know, drier sheet varities like with soap, shampoo etc? Is that even fair to think that men don’t want clean smelling dried clothes? Driven by these questions, I paid a quick visit to google. Disappointingly, I didn’t find any varieties of the sort, however, I could only find Tide, and I’m not that interested. I prefer to think that I can speculate far more interesting answers usually.

I also think that if you made massive wings out of drier sheets, it would be pretty cool. They should make fairy wings for little kids out of drier sheets. (Is it dryer? fjck.
I’m not fixing it.) Not only that though, as this handy site points out, there are quite a few uses. I’ll point out that I’ll be using the amazing anti-scentical properties for my hiking boots. They smell nasty. I think i’ll blog about them t’morrow, I’ve got a lot to say about them. Stay tuned >.>

Dryer sheets tend to have that weird texture to it…kinda like it’s a wet stick, but they’re very dry. I’m so confused by them.

EDIT: I successfully came upon the box that sparked this post completely by accident today doing laundry. it’s downy, and it has english and french on it. And it’s april spring flavor/variety/type (?). that kinda sucks in retrospect
