You Have No Users Connected…Loser
Posted by Saint under Thoughts
So I don’t know how many of you use iTunes out there. Winamp tends to be highly popular among x111.com members, at least when iTunes PC first came out. I never liked Winamp, possibly because it took every single file extension for its own, and uninstalling it didn’t even fix the bloody problem. It made me very very unhappy, especially since I didn’t like the whole setup of playlists and all that. Of course, now that I have an iPod (thanks auntie
) iTunes is a must, but it’s just an easier interface as well in many aspects than Winamp ever was.
Now, iTunes has this handy little function where you can share your music over your LAN network. My dorm uses a network, but it’s all confusing, I’m not too learned about this network stuff, but I do know that I’m somehow connected to a bunch of the other people on the wired network (and the wireless when I switch to that occasionally). So you can share your iTunes shared stuff with 5 unique users a day. Which can be exciting if you’re on a network with someone who has 100GBs of music, as compared to your 4GB (*sniff*). What’s really exciting though, is going into preferences and noting that you have users connected. It’s a heady feeling, knowing somebody somewhere out there is enjoying your delicious musical selections.
However, it also leads to a whole host of little problems and irks. Like you’re listening to your music, and you go check. “Four users connected? Excellent!” But I can never leave it at that. Never! My mind burns with anguish, curiosity even, a desire unfulfilled. “Who are you and why do you listen to my music? Did you just never disconnect? What song is so enthralling? Is it this one that I see so and so has that I also have? Do you like this stuff, or just browsing? Who are youuuuuu?”
It’s aggravating. It really is. But nothing sucks more than having NO users connected, especially when you used to be full up on users. It makes you sad. “I have no users. My music DOES suck” ;_;
Oh wait, a user. sweet. ![]()
EDIT: in hindsight, I’m not sure why I was ever so retarded.
