tease me, please me
Posted by Saint under Thoughts
recently having come into a reasonable quantity of money, I started looking into getting a game to pass my dull times with. A new one. Legally.
So I started by looking at Civ 4. Now, I have Civ 2, which is good, and even better now that it’s abandonware (check it out here) so Civ 4 might not be all that bad, since it’s getting a lot better feedback then Civ 3 was, which I never touched. See, I’m not all that good at strategy games, I just don’t like thinking my games through, I’m a little impatient, I like to feed my adrenaline with games, so I mostly go the FPS route. But unfortunately, what is of that that’s out doesn’t much interest me, or I’ve got it. So no Call of Duty 2. But wait, Prince of Persia has a new installment, which was highly recommended by a friend. So I check it out, it’s fairly sweet, looks good, looks really good actually, so I start wondering what it’s like to play. Lo and behold…there’s no demo.
Now at this point, I could pirate it, but I don’t want to do that. I just want to demo it, and I don’t want to get caught pirating a game just because I wanted to try it out. So definitely no go there. And on a hunch, ah ha, no Civ 4 demo either. So what’s a fella to do? It seems as if demos aren’t so much in their heyday anymore, more like a game comes out on hype alone, and the demos are released in the aftermath to pick up the after-release slack, to draw in as many of the last few hesitants as possible. I don’t really keep totally up to date anymore since I stoppped getting PC Gamer, and I do know this doesn’t occur for every game, but it’s a feeling that i get.
Either way, I have no Civ 4 or PoP ![]()
