So I’ve been diddling around a lot lately, which translates to internet sites and movies, and well, I got around to wanting to do a list of some sort…so I’m going to.

I was watching the Narnia movie Disney recently came out with. I already saw part of it earlier this summer on a plane, and I was well…unimpressed for a variety of reasons. However, I was highly impressed with the White Queen’s chariot. Hello? a chariot drawn by POLAR BEARS?! How much more badass does it get?! It’s just so disappointing that the White Queen’s ingenuity had to end there. Magic sword thing? Yawn, try harder. Even that bad guy from the Highlander movie, Kurgan, was more badass in that respect, and to be honest, he wasn’t that badass at all, mostly because of his sword. I mean, hell, a sword that comes apart in pieces? Tacky! If you’re trying to make me believe you’re a badass you shouldn’t be showing me that you sneak your sword around in pieces after I’ve seen that plenty of other people are fine with dealing with intact swords. And those little retractable fang things? Gimmicky as fuck! Now with all due honesty, Blade had a similar thing going with his sword, it was a little lame, but I mean there were redeeming qualities I’ll get to soon; plus at the end when he uses it to dislodge the little vampire exploding vials? That’s a pretty tricky writer right there who came up with that.
It’s just such a detractor to see a guy, good or bad, resort to a cheap little gimmick like those fangs. I understand that maybe they were trying to work the angle that this is a low-handed guy that’ll resort to anything. But I mean, that’s just lame. Ultimate badasses aren’t lazy like that needing to settle for tricks cuz they just aren’t good enough, and Kurgan is supposed to be an ultimate badass, so why the fucking spikes? Pathetic. It’s detracting from the hero to have him defeat someone so lame. Try harder.
Now I promised I’d touch on Blade’s sword spikes, which I’ll admit in the end, aren’t that different, but do have some redeeming qualities as I said. Put that blade in his hand and it’s all he needs. Kurgan finds the sword inadequate, because frankly he’s inadequate. A proper bad guy shouldn’t ever appear inadequate, it’s a hero’s job to prove he can go one higher than an already beastly bad guy. So Blade has little spikes that cut off the hand of an unwary user. But it’s not like you can’t see or hear the little ticker. I mean hell, if you can’t notice that you sure as hell don’t deserve to be a bad guy. Frost had no problem with it and Blade still beat him up in the end.

…I actually didn’t finish watching Highlander, I got bored by it, so I skipped through it and watched about 5 minutes.
