No Disintegrations
Posted by Saint under Thoughts
So I have something in the works, but it’s taking a lot of time that I’m using for stuff I like more, so in the meantime I’m going to give you…my thoughts on Microsoft’s new fun stuff.
I started off thinking, that’s pretty cool, I could…well, I’m not really sure what I’d do with it. To be honest, I don’t spend that much time shuffling and sorting my pictures, and I’m sure the novelty would wear off soon. I don’t have fugitives to track, and I guess strategy games would be INCREDIBLY fun, but I enjoy FPS games more anyways, and I don’t see this as that much better an experience. So what would this be useful for? Interactive porn? I doubt it, there’s no depth, plus the whole interactive porn thing screams creepy like a blow-up doll actually screaming “creepy!” Do they have talking blow-up dolls yet? I should make some!
So I guess I’ll have to look into getting a bounty hunting license. And a couple of creepy little psychic kids and a glowy pool.
(and no, I would never fuckin quote Minority Report if I could quote Star Wars. Respect)

I’ve seen a similar proof of concept last year or so, and I very much liked the sorting/resizing options it gives you. I think this is one particular technology where you have to wait for the software to catch up to the technology for it to make sense. It needs totally redesigned GUI’s and applications, and then I think it can kick mucho ass.

i can see this as a central device for just about anything around the house ranging from home automation and the come media center. I doubt this generation of devices is capapble of that, but that would be a big draw.

The thing is, it’s a centralized design, I’d much rather have assorted smaller versions of this thing all inputting into a central core, which could be a server box and I’d be fine with that. A screen in the kitchen, simultaneous access from different parts of the house, or just interface like that, instant video chat between kitchen and bedroom, etc etc. That to this desk thing would be a similar analogy to this desk thing to current PCs. Impatient with technology I guess XD
