Ok, I absolutely adore Last.fm, it appeals to the statistics whore in me. It’s also a great way to discover new music. For those unfamiliar with it, you download a program which tracks what music you listen to. This is then turned into statistics you can view on their website (all RSS powered, so you easily add it to for example your blog). Recently played, weekly charts, fave bands, you name it.
It also lets you see music you may like as well, based on what it knows you love. And you can see a list of other people with a similar music taste.
Anyway, the list goes on and on, check it out if you’re a music nut.
And, now we also have a last.fm group for X111.com members:
http://www.last.fm/group/X111.com
Join it! If we get a group of people on there it will generate a weekly chart based on what we’ve all been listening to, which in turn could be fun to add to the site.

Very nice. Yet again a little more mainstream, but they’ve got more punch now. Me likes.

How to create music when you can’t play the piano or drums? Time-line editing like crazy:

Finally, a new Seabound cd. Beautiful.
Some day I’ll finally get round to making a top 10 of my fave bands/musicians. A daunting task, but I’m reasonably sure it’ll include Seabound.

10 years ago I installed this game on my amiga, started playing and subsequently blew a couple of tests in school.
Today I installed the remake and before I knew it it’s 1:15am and I better dive into bed. Same addictive gameplay, updated graphics. Very updated because I had to play it with all the yummyness turned to ultra low to even be able to get a playable framerate. Can’t really blame that on the game, my FX5600 is rather old.
But still, damn what a fun game after all this time. Hehe, and frustrating as always when I ran out of workers because I was lacking tools, which weren’t made fast enough because I was lacking coal, which wasn’t mined fast enough due to a lack of food, which in turn again was due to a lack of tools. Mmmm, management.
The classics stand the test of time perfectly well, and if ever there was a game that was proof of that it’s Settlers II (and Street Fighter II of course ;).

Joystiq declared last friday Monkey Island music day, and who am I to argue with them…
so clicky clicky to check out the youtube videos on their site or go to the SCUMM bar for mp3’s, midis and other Monkey Island goodies.
Arrrrr, them was the good times matey.
(note to self: check newsfeeds more often)
(note 2: time to play this again)
Saw this at Binary Bonsai and just had to link it. That’s one sweet video, and the music sounds great as well. It’s good to see & hear stuff like this still gets made.

Best anime EVER. Ok, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but it’s really really good. It’s so good that I watched 23 episodes in a row today, which I can’t remember ever doing with any series. Unlike for example RahXephon the plot just keeps getting better and never lets down as you’re drawn further in along with poor Renton in a world of girls who aren’t quite girls, heroes who turn out to be killers, mechas with a twist, likeable enemies and a fuzzy past.
Haven’t had nearly enough time in the past week to stay up to date so here’s all the things that caught my interest today as I checked all the feeds I’m subscribed to;
Apple’s quietly released their revised MacBook Pro as the first versions had quite a few bumps with the screen humming, the fans being too loud and miscellaneous other stuff.
Then there’s a new blog devoted entirely to telling the story of someone making the switch from Windows to Os X. I hope it’ll be good and give me a few pointers, lord knows I’m sick of the ‘Apple rocks and does no wrong’ crowd as much as the Linux or Windows fancrowd. At least he’s a 30 year old techie like me so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
And while we’re at it, another reason I want to use Os X for the server which will host the new (and current) site. Why doesn’t Linux have apps like this to manage services?
Something to drool over, for me at least; Optimus Prime CGI. Damn that’s sweet. It’s good enough to almost make me forget the sacrilege of Beast Wars’ Optimus Primal.
Ajax time! And this week, we’re learning how to code our own Ajaxified pop3 client. That’s yet another tutorial for the evergrowing todo list…
And speaking of Ajax, Lightbox, the awesome image script hits 2.0 and by god it’s gorgeous. Check out the image set example. I hope this will get wedged into K2 somehow, it’d be a match made in heaven.
This made me laugh because it’s totally recognizable. Each and every point. I should add a link to this entry for my IM list that opens as a popup with a ‘do you accept this’ button forcing people to read the rules before they even think about adding me. Mwahaha! Or something. Thank you Bryan for making me laugh.
