Sledding

Eve has developed her preferred sledding technique, which involves laying down on her back and holding on for dear life. Her head is sticking out though, so it’ll drag behind the sled through the snow, causing her to laugh like mad all the way down while snow is spraying up. Unfortunately I only have a picture of her at the bottom of the hill (the one above here), would have loved to get the whole thing on video. As you can imagine Kate and me where damn near falling over laughing our ass off.
Amy hates the cold and usually goes in turtle mode as soon as we walk out the door, sticking her head in her coat, or even better ours. But for some reason ever since we gave her new gloves she thinks snow is awesome and she runs around smacking it. From one heap to the next, smack smack, big grins, next heap, smack smack. Weird kid.
Good fun. :)

Epic nosedive

Go figure, everyone’s falling on their ass with the ice and snow outside and I have to make an epic nosedive on the snow- and ice free gallery of our building. We ordered pizza last night, and when it finally arrived I was in a hurry to dive in, so I grabbed the boxes, closed the door and started to walk in when I remembered we’d also ordered a bottle of cola. Put everything down and opened the front door again but the delivery guy was sprinting off in the distance as he was already late for others.
So I decided to sprint down after him, full speed, on my socks. Which went ok, and insanely fast, until I tripped and fell. And not fell as in stumbling down, but no, hard nosedive at full speed. So now I’m limping around the house with bruises on foot, knee, elbow, shoulder and hands along with all those scraped in varying degrees.
Oh and the coke? I simply called and they delivered it 5 minutes later… yeah I should have done that right away.

Sledding with the class

Eve going down hill

Today the whole class went sledding in the snow. Quite fun with about 30 4 & 5 year olds, 2 teachers and about 6 parents trying to guide them all. Lots of slipping and sliding just walking to towards the hill, and once the sledding began I had fun trying to prevent them all from running each other over. ‘t was a good day.
And we survived. ;)

Snow at last

And it looks like it’ll stay for at least this week. I hope. The snowgods sure took their time though.

Sleepy

Me: “Are you sleepy?”
Amy: “No.” then rubs her little eyes “Yes.”
Priceless.

Food prices

About 6 months ago we switched to a different brand of coffee because our then regular one had gone up in price from about €3.30 to €4.95. The brand we switched to was €1.95. By now it’s crept up to €2.29. And that’s just the coffee. The same thing goes for every single piece of food one buys at the stores here. Inflation much? I’m surprised people aren’t complaining about this more. At this rate even food will become a luxury item sooner or later.

Een grote meid

Often when the girls do something well we’ll them they’re ‘een grote meid’, which is Dutch for a big girl. You can just see ‘em grow all proud when we say it.
The downside is that now every time I do something the kids approve of, they call me a big girl. >.<

2012

It’s 2012 and the world hasn’t exploded yet. Maybe if Mayan civilization hadn’t collapsed they would have made a new calendar by now.
2012… that sounds sci-fi’ish, where are the flying cars?
To all strangers dropping by, friends, family, stalkers and what not, only one New Year’s wish covers the whole lot:
May you all get what you deserve. :D
My New Year’s resolution? Still 1680×1050.

Let it Snow!

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Seeing as, despite our best efforts, it’s still not snowing, we have now added a little shrine to pray to the snowgods. Please hear our call: let it snow!

Work in progress... not home!
Trying to get all/most of the new code working before I start on the eyecandy.
