Now that was a good weekend
Posted on July 14, 2008, by XIII, under Happenings.

Very relaxing, and productive at the same time. Got some important things done, and had time for some quality R & R.
Now bring on WordPress 2.6 which is due to be released tomorrow and which promises a load of gallery improvements, so I can finally start uploading all of my pictures. And by god there are many.
Still have figure out how I’m going to organize them all, with a quality camera and a 4GB card in it it’s so tempting to just click away. To indicate how trigger happy I am, I have about 450 piccies just from Katelynd’s birthday alone. Mind you Mondo Verde was a sight, so we just had to. :)

Exposition ‘Alledaagse mensen bezoeken Heerlen’
Posted on June 23, 2008, by XIII, under Happenings.
Which translates to ‘Everyday people visit Heerlen’.
I love this exposition by Christel Lechner, the statues work well in the city environment and it’s great to see people have fun with them, walk up to them and take pictures with them.
Linkage:
Announcement for the exposition.
Route for all the ones I’ve missed.

Hup Holland
Posted on June 15, 2008, by XIII, under Happenings.

And so they were standing outside shouting last friday before ‘the match’ started. The Netherlands - France, and ‘we’ won with 4-1. Crap. After defeating Italy with 3-0. Crap.
This means more soccermania over the next weeks until we finally get kicked out or, god forbid, win. Until that time it’s orange everywhere, annoying music, annoying commercials and orange gimmicks everywhere, and everyone talking about soccer.

Conned
Posted on May 27, 2008, by XIII, under Happenings.
Yesterday on my way home I saw a family of Turkish people in a polish BMW standing by the road signaling for help. I pulled over, they were asking for money because their credit card had gone p00f and they needed money for gas to get home. They gave me some of their gold necklaces and rings and told me they’d pay me back in several days.
I thought fuck the stereotypes and helped them.
Today I come into the office and start telling my colleague. First thing he says; ah no, let me guess, polish car?
Seems to be a trend lately conning dutch idiots out of money that way.
Sometimes stereotypes are true.

Good and fun barbecue last saturday.
(ps. it’s probably ‘on a stick’, but that totally slipped by me at the time.)
(pps. WordPress 2.5’s image uploader sucks donkey dick, I need a plugin to revert to the old one)

The follow up to this post, for some reason this was still in my draft queue. Time to hit publish and amuse/annoy you with more things that struck me as odd during our stay in the US:
