First post of 2009

Still have to get used to the sound of that. Another year has flown by faster than a speeding bullet. Best wishes to all of you and lots of luck in all your endeavors this year.
May it be a happy one.

Winterland Maastricht

Some pictures from last Saturday when we ended up in Maastricht where het Vrijthof, the old city center square, was turned into a so called Winterland.

Brrrr

As promised some pics of the first snow here in the Netherlands last night.

Sinterklaas & Kerstmarkt

Being married to a Christmas fanatic we decided to go to Valkenburg today to check out the Kerstmarkt in the underground caves, quite a sight. On the way there we were held up in traffic because of what turned out to be Sinterklaas his big entrance in Valkenburg. Seeing as we were already there we went to have a peek. The poor people there waiting in the rain were a bit disappointed, he was about 45 minutes late and then left in such a hurry that all the kids and parents were left standing going ‘eh…’.

October again already

Finally watched Iron Man (funnier than I figured it’d be, and damn the suit looked cool), finished watching Itazura Na Kiss (I would have liked this to go on for longer, but then again that’s the sign of any good series), played and finished Professor Layton and the Curious Village for the Nintendo DS (brilliant little game) and caught up with a buttload of paperwork not counting all the stuff that’s still ‘in progress’. I hate bureaucracy. But life’s good. Just a tad busy.
Oh, and somewhere last week I missed Fortis and ABN Amro being bought by the Dutch government. Good news for some of us. Ah, and every now and again I spend an hour working on X111.org hoping to wrap that up soon. I updated our member blogs but I doubt anyone noticed or cared so I stopped posting news updates there. Pretty soon I hope to spend some more time beefing up the Triforce section if I can find some people interested in posting about anime, manga, games or Final Fantasy.

A day at the beach in Knokke

Well, maybe not a day, more like just over 2 hours on August 23. This video and these pictures cannot portray how bad the weather was. The wind was blowing really hard and it was raining like mad. So much for me ever listening to the weather report again which promised that there’d be no rain at the coast and only inland. So ofcourse when we drove back home from the Belgian coast the more inland we got the sunnier it was. But anyway, so here we were at the beach, freezing our asses off and blowing away, when my wife decides that seeing as she’s never hopped into the sea now is as good a time as any to do so. After declaring her positively insane, noblesse oblige, I agreed to run along.
And yes, that was cold. Shrivel your package to peanut size cold.
But hey, we did it and that was fun. Carpe diem and all that stuff.

Now that was a good weekend

Very relaxing, and productive at the same time. Got some important things done, and had time for some quality R & R.
Now bring on WordPress 2.6 which is due to be released tomorrow and which promises a load of gallery improvements, so I can finally start uploading all of my pictures. And by god there are many.
Still have figure out how I’m going to organize them all, with a quality camera and a 4GB card in it it’s so tempting to just click away. To indicate how trigger happy I am, I have about 450 piccies just from Katelynd’s birthday alone. Mind you Mondo Verde was a sight, so we just had to. :)

Exposition ‘Alledaagse mensen bezoeken Heerlen’

Which translates to ‘Everyday people visit Heerlen’.
I love this exposition by Christel Lechner, the statues work well in the city environment and it’s great to see people have fun with them, walk up to them and take pictures with them.

Linkage:
Announcement for the exposition.
Route for all the ones I’ve missed.

Work in progress... not home!
Trying to get all/most of the new code working before I start on the eyecandy.
