Level 80

So yeah, yay, we hit level 80.
I’m still not 100% sure if that’s a good thing.
People say the game doesn’t properly start until level 80, but I’m not so sure about that. Part of the fun seems missing and if you thought people were assholes thusfar, just wait ’til 80.
Basically you have to start from scratch, all your gear is useless and you have to grind heroics for epic drops and to gather enough emblems to get gear to stop sucking.
Same goes for PvP, get ready to start from scratch again. Yay. Forget about going on raids because all the pugs (random pickup groups) demand you have good gear and achievements to prove you’ve done succesful raids. Catch 22.

Ah yeah, my glorious moment of hitting 80; we got our ass kicked in PvP by the Horde:

Oddly enough I still get most satisfaction from doing all the quests I haven’t done yet. Taking my time, breathing in the scenery and gaining moolah and mats to level my enchanting and tailoring professions along the way. Hooking up with the missus to nuke some bad guys or flying around discovering bits of the vast landscape we haven’t seen yet.

It just seems more fun than making it all about the best gear. Gearscore seems everything (a sort of overall score based on the gear you have equipped). Mine’s 4506 at the moment, so I’m getting there. But it’s getting boring.

  1. Agreed. I may cancel my subscription in a month or so. Time to spend that monthly wage on this and put it into a new phone. :p At least a phone could be more fun. And it won’t make fun of me for sucking.

Also, I’m bored of spamming SoC. >.> *sighs*

    • Spamming Seed of Corruption is just how we roll, although by now it could probably start making sense to switch to destruction. If we still want to.
It would be nice to at least run the raids once just to see the grande finale before we decide to quit.

  2. More reasons, why I don’t like WoW in the first place.

    • Are you playing any other online games by any chance? And it’s not all bad. We’ve been playing since February and it’s been quite a blast thusfar.

  3. grats! first 80 is always the hardest! esp. now, with WotLK wrapping up. Getting heroic-5 gear and rep used to feel rewarding, but now it just feels like you’re stuck playing catch-up. PvE can still be really fun, find some friends or guildies in the same situation as you and do a 10 (or 25, if you’re super popular :P), and Furious gear is still fine for PvP, if you have the patience to deal with getting your ass owned constantly while you farm honor, and maybe some afterwards.
plus, nothing wrong with doing whatever you find fun no matter what anyone says. There’s a ton of immature assholes on WoW mouthing off, but i’ve run into a ton of level-headed folks, they’re just not mouthing off in /2

    tl;dr : graaaaaaaats

    • Nice summary, and quite accurate. I haven’t done much PvP since 80 because I don’t have the gear for it and especially as a lock I drop dead in 2 seconds if I encounter a group. So it’s one of the nice catch 22′s at the moment. For PvE I’m slowly getting there, if Alliance didn’t suck so much we could start grinding some Wintergrasp stuff but alas. So we’re still waiting for our guild to get their shit together so we can start doing some raids, because with just the 2 daily frosties from random it’s going to take quite some time before I can buy anything decent.

  4. Damn, if there were only a way to form a guild with the entire former x111.com members. We’d all use our former aliases. Unfortunately it would look like Maidenyuna. Lame.

Work in progress... not home!
Trying to get all/most of the new code working before I start on the eyecandy.
