Pegasus

Written on May 19, 2006 // Happenings.

Is it a bird, is it a plane? No, and it isn’t a flying horse either.
Someone, for some reason, decided to give me an early birthday present a month ahead of time (thanks crazy ;p). And so I’ve been playing with a Mac Mini for the past 2 weeks, which explains the slow down in terms of finishing my plans around here for the redesign.
By now Pegasus (as all my comps are named after mythical creatures) is purring happily and largely configured, hosting several of my other domains. I must say I’m loving the Mac experience more and more (although iTunes is still the biggest piece of shit ever released, but luckily that’s not what the machine is for). This weekend I hope to do some stress testing to see how it holds up compared to the old Quicksilver which buckled when I wanted to add a lot of stuff to the gallery, but I’m expecting it to pass with flying colours. Which might even get me to move this behemoth over to it.
After I figure out log rotation in combination with analyzer parsing, automating incremental backups, setting up SSH and SFTP, VPN, DNS wildcards… eh yeah, it may take a few days.

Two thumbs-up for Pegasus (and “crazy” for that matter ;) !!
I never give my comps a meaningfull name, I believe my main comp still has name my previous ISP required it to have, hehe.
Though I do name my HD’s with greek letters (ya know: Alpha, Omega, Epsilon, Sigma…).

If the Mac Mini can host this behemoth then it sure made a believer out of me.

Have fun tweaking pegasus, just be carefull and don’t clip its wings ;)

Hehe, that’s not a bad name either, especially given all the heat issues the Duo’s been having. But yeah, it’s a nifty machine, a lot faster than I thought it’d be.
And for those wondering about the naming, the others are called Dragon, Phoenix, Gryphon & Unicorn.

Toaster! Even more Galactica! -_-llll hahaha

mine compy is just the moblieputer….the PC back home is just the homeputer. They’re not fancy enough to get a cool name or any sort
