Poker
No matter how many people tell me it’s a game of skill, it’s still a game of luck in my book. Sucky cards are sucky cards, and you can bluff ’til kingdom come but anyone can smoke you if they have better cards, which they get by chance and not skill.
I still don’t quite get what the big fascination with the game is, seems everyone here is playing it these days. It was fun for an evening, but not something I’d want to play every week.
Although I did enjoy winning a couple of times. :x

The fascination probably lies in the part you liked: the winning!
I mean, why else play? No one wants to perpetually lose, right?

Hey Jos,
It was fun to have you and you’re family over. But I have to comment on you’re article. I don’t agree that poker is just about luck. If that was true, then you could only win with good cards, but i have won many time’s with pretty bad cards. Also , we missed one very important element in the game….. Money :).

Hmph, money should only be gambled, when one can afford to lose it (the amount they wish to gamble). And even then it’s a waste of time and money.
And there is always a problem with addiction, with all/many things.
Amazing… that girl with the baby seems to be holding an awful lot of chips.

I can’t say Poker is my game, though. Meh much prefers Mario Kart.
Oh yeah, @ Patrick: ‘Aww’ is something one says when something sweet or heart warming is seen.
I barely know anything about poker, but I still kicked the shit out of my friends last time we played it. No luck involved at all (that was a lie).
Poker, ‘klaverjassen’ (nld), ‘fishing’ (asn), Texas hold-em, blackjack, Baccarat… Is a few I sort of know and played.
And of course winning with bluffing is easier, when one has more control over their habits, ticks, => nerves, looks, and etc. (Pokerface blabla) And having quite some money (affordable to lose and or as a weight) helps too…
So X-man when are you bring like 2k along?
