Japanese highway interchange

Those were some great pictures. Someday, I hope to take shots that good. I wonder how photographers manage to get things like car lights to blur like that?

Exposure time. Which is the length of time light is allowed to fall on the sensor. In the evenings you need a longer exposure time already because it’s dark, so you want to capture as much light as possible. The neat effect you’re referring to where you can see trails of light is therefor a simple matter of plonking your camera on a tripod so it can remain perfectly still and then setting the exposure time for an x amount of seconds, therefor capturing the light of the car as it moves by the camera, creating a trail.
