8 Core Mac Pro & Xserve
Written on Jan 08, 2008 // Apple.
64-bit Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Harpertown” 5400 series processor for the win, in the new models of the Xserve and Mac Pro, so 2 processors makes for 8 cores in total. Niiice.
But, what’s rather weird is that these are announced a week before the Macworld San Francisco 2008, which makes everyone wonder what they’re going to announce there if this wasn’t big enough.

Jan 09 2008, 2:22I bet you can buy at least 8 Asus Ees for the price this thing will cost.
And if you do that, you’ll have 8 monitors, 24 USB ports, 8 keyboards and 8 mice….
Not to uh… bash the price of Apple hardware or anything… *cough*

Jan 10 2008, 10:57I’m hoping they’ll announce the new iMacs on Macworld… With Penryn cores in them as well… Would definately make me want to buy one… even more… Now if I could just find a stash of cash somewhere…. ;)
And yet…. 2500 euros for a complete MacPro (8 cores, Decent graphics card, 2GB RAM) isn’t all that much…. maybe I should talk to the missus :)
