Mmmm for Mini
Written on Feb 28, 2006 // Apple.Ah crap, they did what I was hoping for, the new Mac Minis are out, one with a single Core at 1.5Ghz and a Core Duo at 1.67Ghz. Added Front Row, 2 more USB ports and I really can’t think of any reason why I wouldn’t want one, money permitting ofcourse.
It’s the perfect desktop, and it’d make me a perfect mini webserver.
Still, you’d have to buy it stock, because adding any options whatsoever and the iMac soon becomes a much better deal.

Mar 03 2006, 2:08they have integrated gfx! eeewwww! And it’s slightly crappier than the ATI 9200 that was in previous models, jsut because it uses the CPU to calculate the gfx.. .. bleh. But you don’t gfx anyways for this kind of desktop so it’s all good, but i still wish it had a dedicated GPU…

Mar 03 2006, 9:20True, but while it could be better it’s definitely a step up from the old Mini. The performance of this chip is supposedly better (and the 9200 in the old one wasn’t really a dedicated card either) plus contrary to the 9200 this one does support Apple’s Core Graphics engine.

Mar 04 2006, 5:05the integrated gfx doesn’t support pixel shaders, unlike the 9200 and some benchmarks show the 950 to actually be worse than ATI’s 9200 (but not all that much). But it is a plus that it supports HDCP and core graphics engine.
