Insomnia
Written on Feb 04, 2007 // Thoughts.
4am and still fully awake.
Much to think about. Hmm.
The picture up there is an old one made by heffer a few years ago, came across it today on my harddrive. Time flies.
Oh, and for some reason I’ve started blogging in dutch as well. Different site, under my real name. It’s different. Still not quite sure what to make of it, feels a bit odd really. Odd to post in dutch when I’m so used to english, and definitely odd to post under another name than XIII. Sort of like a split personality. And no, I’m not linking to it. Yet anyway.
Next week I’m also checking out different operating systems to run a server on. So far I’m leaning towards Debian or Suse. Suse because I’m familiar with it, Debian because it seems to allow major version upgrades and it’s used a lot for www servers. I’ve got a shitload of requirements, and both seem perfectly capable of supporting everything.
I’ve got a bit of time to make up my mind, still gotta get some cheap sata drives first, everything I have in my current systems is still pata so I can’t use those.
If you want to know more about me, my blog or the rest of the site, check out my

Feb 04 2007, 17:16It’s a great system, and I’m getting it ridiculously cheap (271 for a Proliant with a Xeon 5500), the only thing it lacks is RAM (only 512) and any drives. But it was still too damn cheap to let it pass. Especially with all he plans this’ll be a perfect server to grow (room for second proc as well). Good shtuff. So I’ll get the system now and then the drives in a couple of months I think, when I can afford them more easily.
